Two Men Arrested After Suburban Break-In, Pursuit

Two men have been arrested following a break-in at Seaton that led to a police pursuit across Adelaide's western suburbs.

At about 9am on Thursday 28 May, police were called to a home on Matthews Avenue, Seaton, after a man allegedly entered the premises, threatened a 47-year-old woman with a crowbar and demanded her car keys.

The suspect then stole the woman's Toyota hatchback and fled the scene. The victim was not physically injured.

Patrols quickly attended and searched the area, locating the stolen vehicle about 12pm on Fidock Avenue, Seaton.

A 52-year-old Semaphore Park man, believed to be a passenger, exited the vehicle and was arrested at the scene.

The driver fled in the stolen car and was tracked with the assistance of PolAir as he travelled through the western suburbs.

The vehicle was successfully spiked multiple times in nearby suburbs before being intercepted by STAR Group officers on Recreation Parade, Semaphore Park at 1pm.

The driver, a 20-year-old Port Adelaide man, was arrested. He has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault and driving dangerously to escape a police pursuit. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday 29 May.

The 52-year-old Semaphore Park man was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and carrying an offensive weapon after he was allegedly found in possession of a knife. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 25 June.

The stolen vehicle was recovered and towed from the scene.
