Two men wanted on warrants charged - New England

Two men will face court today on outstanding warrants after being arrested in the state's Northern Tablelands.

About 9.45am yesterday (Thursday 3 August 2023), officers from Peel Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling Emmaville, when they stopped to speak to a man.

Following inquiries, the man was arrested and taken to Glen Innes Police Station.

The 56-year-old man was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, and destroy or damage property.

About 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 2 August 2023), officers attached to Peel Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling Glen Innes, when they saw a man wanted on warrants outside a home in Clarke Street.

Police arrested the man and took him to Glen Innes Police Station.

Police searched the man and seized a knife, anabolic steroids, jewellery and packages believed to contain heroin and methylamphetamine.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with

  • contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (two counts)
  • goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
  • possess prohibited drug (three counts)
  • carry cutting weapon upon apprehension and,
  • hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

Six outstanding arrest warrants were also executed for domestic violence, traffic, weapon and property-related offences.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 3 August 2023).
