UC Aerospace Engineer Leads Global CFD Task Force

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics announced the formation of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Vision 2045 Team, a multi-institution working group tasked with defining where the field of computational fluid dynamics should be by 2045 to align with the changing and evolving needs of the aerospace industry. The University of Cincinnati's Prashant Khare, Bradley Jones professor and head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering , is leading this specialized group.

Associate Professor in Engineering Prashant Khare leads UC's Hypersonic Lab where UC Aerospace Engineering is helping industry make faster, safer and more efficient aircraft.

Prashant Khare is a prolific researcher in the field of fluid dynamics.

The CFD Vision 2045 team builds on the legacy of the CFD Vision 2030 study that shaped a decade of progress in computational fluid dynamics research. The team brings together experts from industry, government and academia to define the capabilities, challenges and research priorities needed to advance the field over the next two decades. Khare is the only academic representative serving on the task force and chairs the group's efforts. The results and findings of this group will be compiled into a study documenting the capabilities required, the grand challenges that stand in the way, and a road map of research and technology milestones needed to reach those goals.
