- Upgraded air-conditioning and electrical systems are now complete at Embleton Primary School and Ardross Primary School
- Works completed as part of the Cook Labor Government's Cool the Schools upgrades
- New air-con ensuring the best possible learning and working environments for students and teachers
Two additional Western Australian public primary schools have had their existing air-conditioning upgraded to reverse-cycle air-conditioning systems through the Cook Labor Government's Cool the Schools program.
Students and staff at Embleton Primary School and Ardross Primary School are now benefiting from the completed upgrades, providing more modern and comfortable learning and working environments.
Installing new reverse-cycle air-conditioning at these schools involved significant supporting works, including upgrades to electrical infrastructure to ensure the schools' power systems could accommodate the new units.
At both schools, the air-conditioning upgrades were delivered alongside a Western Power systems upgrade, with works scheduled to minimise disruption.
The upgrades form part of the Cook Labor Government's Cool the Schools Program, a 2025 election commitment to deliver new reverse-cycle air-conditioning systems at 45 Western Australian public schools during this term of Government.
The program is on track, with works already completed at several schools including Booragoon Primary School, White Gum Valley Primary School, Burrendah Primary School, and Newborough Primary School.
The Cook Labor Government is committed to ensuring Western Australian families have access to high-quality public education close to where they live.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
"As Education Minister and a former teacher of 27 years, I know how important it is for students and staff to have access to the best possible learning and working environments.
"Our government's Cool the Schools initiative is the largest-ever investment in upgrading Western Australian schools' air-conditioning.
"We're fixing the mess inherited from the former Liberal-National Government, who prioritised cheaper and less effective evaporative air-cooling systems in public schools, which are having to be replaced.
"It was fantastic to recently visit Embleton Primary School and Ardross Primary School to see their new air-conditioning units in action.
"The Cook Labor Government is getting on with the job of delivering the remaining air-conditioning upgrades, and I look forward to visiting more schools as their upgrades are completed."
As stated by Maylands MLA Dan Bull:
"Embleton Primary School is a wonderful local school and I'm really happy students and staff are now benefitting from this upgrade.
"These works will make a real difference in the classroom, particularly during the warmer months.
"It's great to see this investment delivered for local families and the Embleton school community."
As stated by Bateman MLA Kim Giddens:
"Ardross Primary School is an important part of our local community, and these upgrades are a welcome investment.
"Modern, reverse-cycle air-conditioning will help create a more comfortable environment for students to learn and teachers to work.
"I'm pleased to see these works completed for Ardross families and to see continued investment in our local public schools."
