Two people assisting police with enquiries into disappearance of Launceston man Jake Daniel Anderson-Brettner, TAS

Police have this morning taken two people into custody in relation to the disappearance of 24-year-old Launceston man Jake Daniel Anderson-Brettner who has not been seen since 6pm Wednesday night, Tasmania Police say.

"Police hold grave concerns for the welfare of Jake Anderson-Brettner and as part of the ongoing investigation to establish his whereabouts, two people were arrested in Launceston this morning and taken into custody," said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Fox.

"Investigations suggest the Riverside man and woman now in police custody can provide vital information in relation to Jake’s movements since he was last seen."

Jake was last seen in Launceston around 6pm on Wednesday night driving his black 2011 Nissan Navara ute, registration H89ND. His ute was located unattended in Balmoral Avenue, Riverside, around 4.30pm Thursday.

"Following our public request yesterday for sightings of three cars, I thank those members of the community who have provided information, and urge anyone else who saw the cars and hasn’t spoken to police to contact us or provide information anonymously to Crime Stoppers."

Information is sought from anyone who saw any of these cars in the Riverside or West Tamar areas between 6pm Wednesday and 4.30pm Thursday:

  • black 2011 Nissan Navara ute, registration H89ND
  • black 2015 Range Rover Evoque station wagon
  • black 2016 Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone with information in relation to Jake’s whereabouts or the movements of any of the vehicles is urged to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
