Two seriously injured in crash - Table Top

An investigation is underway following a serious two-vehicle crash near Albury yesterday.

About 4.30pm (Wednesday 28 April 2021), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near Burma Road, Table Top, after reports of a truck and 4WD crash.

Police have been told a Hino truck and Toyota Landcruiser – that was towing a box trailer – were travelling southbound when the crash occurred, causing the Toyota to roll several times and the trailer to detach.

The driver and passenger of the Toyota – an 80-year-old man and 74-year-old woman – were treated at the scene before being taken to Albury Hospital, both in a critical condition.

The 51-year-old male driver of the Hino was arrested and taken to hospital for mandatory testing. He was released pending further inquiries.

Officers from Murray River Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
