Two Taxi Drivers Charged With Affray At Sydney Airport

Two NSW men are scheduled to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today (12 May, 2026) charged with affray following an altercation in a taxi holding bay at Sydney Airport.

The AFP will allege the men, aged 30 and 48, got into an altercation in the Sydney Domestic Airport taxi holding bay on 31 March, 2026, following a traffic incident.

AFP officers attended the scene and located a man, 30, who was unresponsive. He was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.

Officers subsequently located a second man, 48, who alleged a traffic incident had escalated into a physical altercation. The man complained of chest pains and was conveyed by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital.

AFP officers obtained witness statements and reviewed footage of the incident, which had been circulating among taxi drivers gathered in the holding bay.

Both men were issued with court attendance notices and charged with affray, contrary to section 93C of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW).

Detective Superintendent Davina Copelin said any form of violence in public places, particularly at major transport hubs such as Sydney Airport, was unacceptable and places members of the public at risk.

"Airports are high-traffic environments relied upon by thousands of people every day. Antisocial behaviour can quickly escalate and result in serious harm," Det. Supt. Copelin said.

"The AFP will continue to work with airport partners and the transport industry to ensure the safety of passengers, workers and service providers. We encourage anyone who witnesses violent or antisocial behaviour in public places to report it to police."
