Two Teens Charged in Robbery, Break-In Spree

Two teenage boys have been charged following a string of break and enters and an armed robbery in the state's west yesterday.

About 12am (Wednesday 27 August 2025), a group of teens allegedly entered a home on Macquarie Street, West Bathurst, where they stole personal items and car keys, before leaving in a stolen silver Mercedes sedan.

The resident at home at the time was uninjured.

About 2.10am, the teens allegedly entered another home on Stanley Street, Bathurst, where the occupant – a 59-year-old man – was assaulted with a mirror – causing head injuries, before the group ran from the scene towards Peel Street.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before minor head injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District were called to both locations and commenced investigations.

Police will allege about 4.10am, the stolen sedan drove to a petrol station on Orange Road, Blayney, where the teens used an extinguisher to force entry into the store, stealing cash and cigarettes, before leaving the scene in the stolen vehicle.

About 5.10am, the sedan entered another petrol station on Sydney Road, Kelso, where the teens allegedly entered the store and stole confectionary from behind the counter before leaving the scene.

Shortly after, a 23-year-old man riding an e-scooter on Commonwealth Street, Bathurst, was approached by the sedan before the teens allegedly exited the vehicle – both armed with machetes – and threatened him before stealing his property and leaving the scene.

The man was uninjured.

About 5.30am, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers were conducting patrols in the Bathurst area, when they sighted the stolen sedan and attempted to stop it on Stanley Street.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, continuing through several nearby streets before police lost sight of the vehicle on Piper Street.

Following an extensive patrol, about 6am, the sedan was located alight on Tyndall Street, Kelso.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives attended homes in Eglinton and Kelso, where they arrested two teenage boys – aged 16 and 15 – before taking them both to Bathurst Police Station.

Following the arrests detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Kelso, where they located and seized items linked to the alleged break and enters.

The 16-year-old was charged with:

- Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence (three counts)
