Two-vehicle crash in Katoomba

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at Katoomba, NSW Police say.

Just after 11.30pm (Saturday 22 September 2018), police were called to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Explorers Road, following reports a semi-trailer had collided with a car and caught alight.

The driver of the semi-trailer, a man aged in his 40s, was uninjured.

The male driver of the car, remains trapped in the vehicle and is currently being treated by paramedics.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command remain at the scene and are working with Fire & Rescue NSW to free the trapped driver.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation has been launched.

The Great Western Highway is currently closed in both directions and will remain closed for a number of hours. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and check www.livetraffic.com for the latest information.
