For the first time in a decade, Victorian umpires Daryl Brigham and Chris Grant have been selected to make their debuts in BBL|15.
The pair add this achievement to an already impressive season, having secured their first-class umpiring debuts in 2025-26 across both the Sheffield Shield and Dean Jones Trophy competitions.
Brigham will take charge of his first Big Bash League match on Friday, December 19, when the Brisbane Heat face the Perth Scorchers at the Gabba.
Grant's BBL debut will follow on Monday, December 29, officiating at Ninja Stadium in Hobart as the Hobart Hurricanes meet the Melbourne Renegades.
Both Brigham and Grant will be joined on-field by fellow Victorians Phil Gillespie and Shawn Craig, showcasing the strength of Victoria's umpiring talent.
Cricket Victoria's Head of Premier Cricket, Darren Anderson, praised their progression:
"After transitioning from playing to umpiring and moving through Cricket Victoria's Umpire Development Program, including umpiring Premier Cricket, Daryl and Chris have consistently developed and elevated their skills."
"Cricket Victoria congratulates both umpires on this significant milestone, and we look forward to seeing them put their best foot forward for the remainder of the 2025-26 season."
