UAB to Fund New Company-Research R&D Projects

The new PCPP-UAB 2026 call plans to finance a minimum of five joint projects. Priority will be given to opportunities detected at the UAB Innovation Fair, which will be held on 20 October, as well as to other actions connecting companies and research teams.

Fira de la innovació

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona launches the call for public-private collaboration projects PCPP-UAB 2026, aimed at companies and University research teams interested in jointly developing R&D&I projects. The call has a budget of 100,000 euros and aims to facilitate the initial stages of these collaborations, reduce early-stage risk, and foster their continuity, enabling them to subsequently access other competitive funding avenues. The submission deadline is 20 January 2027.

Managed by the UAB Research Park (PRUAB), the initiative is particularly linked to its prospecting tasks: identifying the needs and challenges of companies and connecting them with the University's knowledge and research capabilities.

The Innovation Fair, a connection point

The UAB Innovation Fair, which will be held on 20 October at the Hotel EXE Campus, will be one of the key venues for identifying such opportunities. The event will bring together companies and organisations with research groups, centres, scientific-technical services, and other stakeholders within the UAB ecosystem, and will include one-on-one meetings to explore potential collaborations. In the 2025 edition, the Fair brought together 70 research groups and R&D+I support units, along with 198 organisations, resulting in 402 meetings among the participants.

The PCPP-UAB will give priority to projects arising from the Fair or from other prospecting and matching activities accredited by the UAB Research Park. The period for submitting applications will open the following day, 21 October. Participation in the Fair, however, is not a requirement to apply.

With the PCPP, the UAB now incorporates direct collaboration with companies in the two transfer fronts it had recently strengthened with the Proof of Concept UAB 2026 and the CREAR-EM 2026-2027 calls: the maturation of research results and the creation of companies based on the University's knowledge or technology. In this case, the starting point is a company and a research team that have already identified an opportunity to jointly develop an R&D&I project.
