UK Seeks Proposals: Open Data Green Fund

The British Embassy in Panama invites civil society organisations to submit proposals for the Open Data for Green Growth Fund, an initiative aimed at strengthening inclusive governance and the strategic use of public data in Panama. This edition focuses on building basic capacities for entrepreneurs and local organisations to explore how open data can support sustainable and regenerative business models linked to biodiversity, biotechnology potential, and ecosystem services.

Fund objective

To strengthen local capacities to develop sustainable entrepreneurship models through the strategic use of open data, identifying opportunities related to biodiversity, biotechnology, and ecosystem services, and detecting data gaps relevant to public policy formulation.

We are looking for proposals that:

  • offer introductory training on the use of open data for sustainable entrepreneurship
  • produce a policy paper identifying key data gaps relevant to green growth and science, technology and innovation policy
  • promote inclusive participation of entrepreneurs, local communities, and actors within the innovation ecosystem

Implementer profile

The organisation must be legally registered in Panama and demonstrate:

  • experience in developing projects that support sustainable entrepreneurship, green growth, and related areas
  • proven financial capacity to sustain project operations for at least one month prior to the first disbursement
  • commitment to inclusion of women, youth, Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant communities, and persons with disabilities

Key deliverables

  • at least one pedagogical proposal for knowledge transfer on the use of open data in sustainable entrepreneurship, aimed at entrepreneurs, local organisations or interested communities
  • a technical document (policy paper) identifying data gaps and providing recommendations for public policy design, with a focus on green growth and innovation based on natural resources
  • a communications and visibility strategy, including at least one action to share project findings with key stakeholders in the innovation and policy ecosystem
  • a final report documenting activities, lessons learned, and recommendations for future action
