GENEVA - The UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development, Surya Deva, will visit Germany from 10 to 19 November 2025.
The Special Rapporteur will assess the country's efforts to contribute to the promotion, protection and fulfilment of the right to development and realising the Sustainable Development Goals both within and beyond Germany.
Deva will also identify how the Government ensures effective participation of people in development-related policies, programmes and projects. The Special Rapporteur will provide recommendations to the Government for strengthening its legislation, policies and practices in line with the 1986 Declaration on the Right to Development and other relevant standards.
The Special Rapporteur will visit and hold meetings in Berlin, Cottbus, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen.
