UN Expert Group To Assess Progresses And Challenges On Business And Human Rights: Serbia

GENEVA - The United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights will conduct its first official country visit to Serbia from 6 to 15 October.

During its visit, the experts will assess efforts made by the Government as well as businesses to identify, prevent and address adverse impacts of business activities on people and the environment, including in the context of mining, energy, infrastructure and agricultural sectors.

The Working Group will examine current efforts of the Serbian Government and businesses to implement their respective human rights obligations and responsibilities under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

The experts will hold meetings in Belgrade and in different districts, including Bor, Mačva, South Bačka and Central Banat Districts.

The Working Group will hold a press conference on Wednesday 15 October at 11am (local time) at the UNS Press Center in Belgrade. Access will be strictly limited to journalists.

The Working Group on Business and Human Rights will present its full report at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in June 2026.
