UN Mission on Sanctions Rejoices Iranian Regime

UN Watch

The UN Special Rapporteur on “the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures,” Alena Douhan concluded an 11-day visit to Iran by urging “countries that have imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran, including the U.S., to lift them because it is against international law. We call on governments to release Iran’s blocked revenues.”

Douhan, who works for the Lukashenko regime’s Belarus State University, was appointed in March 2020 to the Cuban-backed post, which was created in a 2014 resolution sponsored by Iran on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement, and was designed to define Western sanctions against rogue regimes as violations of human rights.
