UNITAR, in collaboration with IC Education, successfully concluded the second edition of its global youth leadership programme , "Prosperity Unleashed: Empowering Young Innovators - Youth Leadership Workshop in Geneva".
The workshop took place in Geneva from 12 -15 August 2025.
Approximately 20 participants engaged in a dynamic programme combining expert-led lectures, interactive workshops, and group work.
Topics ranged from frameworks for SDG evaluation and public engagement strategies to building inclusive community development plans and social well-being through youth-led solutions.
As UNITAR and IC Education look to the future, both institutions are committed to expanding the programme and continuing to create opportunities for young people to lead sustainable development initiatives around the world.
4 September 2025, Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in collaboration with IC Education, successfully concluded the second edition of its global youth leadership programme, "Prosperity Unleashed: Empowering Young Innovators - Youth Leadership Workshop in Geneva", held from 12-15 August 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Following the success of the inaugural programme in Geneva in 2024, this year's edition, under the theme of "Building Local Prosperity: Youth Leadership for the SDGs" brought together a diverse group of young leaders from across the globe to explore how youth can take active roles in advancing the UN SDGs in their communities.
Empowering Youth for Local and Global Impact
In Geneva, approximately 20 participants engaged in a dynamic programme combining expert-led lectures, interactive workshops, and group work. Topics ranged from frameworks for SDG evaluation and public engagement strategies to building inclusive community development plans and social well-being through youth-led solutions.
Youth Showcasing SDG Solutions
On the final day, participants presented group projects highlighting best practices for SDG implementation identified through research in their own communities and cities. Proposals included creative solutions for waste management, digital literacy initiatives, and inclusive urban development.
A panel of UNITAR experts and university faculty evaluated the projects based on creativity, feasibility, and cross-sectoral thinking. The top-performing groups were recognized for their ability to link local action to global challenges.
