The University of Liverpool has risen 17 places to 143rd in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, announced today.
Widely regarded as one of the most authoritative global university league tables, the THE World University Rankings evaluate more than 2,000 institutions worldwide across five key areas: teaching, research quality, research environment, international outlook, and industry engagement.
This is the University's highest position since the rankings were established in 2011, and it now places 17th among UK universities in this year's list. It also builds on an eight-place rise last year.
The University achieved notable improvements in its teaching and research reputation scores, reflecting growing recognition from the global academic community. These gains stem from strong performance in the THE Academic Reputation Survey, which captures the views of world-leading academics across a range of disciplines.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Jones said: "I am delighted that the University has achieved its highest-ever position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It is particularly encouraging to see improvements in our teaching and research reputation, which reflect the hard work and dedication of colleagues across our academic community.
"Strategy 2031 sets out our ambition to become a global top 100 university, and these results demonstrate the progress we are making towards that goal. I would like to thank colleagues for their continued commitment to delivering world-class research and teaching that make such achievements possible."
This latest success follows a series of strong performances in both international and domestic league tables.
