Unlawful stalking, Cairns and Mareeba

Detectives from the Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch arrested and charged a 28-year old Bayview Heights man in relation to the alleged unlawful stalking of three women in June and earlier this week.

It will be alleged on one occasion the man used a blue 2006 Toyota Camry to follow a woman in Cairns and on two other occasions women were followed in their vehicles between Cairns and Mareeba.

Subsequently, one of the women was able to obtain the registration details of the vehicle and contact police.

Police carried out a search warrant on a Bayview property yesterday where they seized a mobile phone, cannabis and a ladies handbag.

The man was arrested and charged with three counts of stalking and one count of possess dangerous drugs.

He was refused police bail to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who believes they may also be victims of this man's behaviour to contact police. In particular, anyone who observed a blue 2006 Toyota Camry around June 1, July 14 and July 15, is asked to contact investigators.
