Unlawful use of motor vehicle, Belgian Gardens

Townsville police have charged a 39-year-old man following an incident at Belgian Gardens yesterday.

At approximately 8.50am an allegedly stolen Toyota Hilux was observed at Rowes Bay.

A 39-year-old Kirwan man was then taken into custody on Primrose Street at Belgian Gardens.

Three police vehicles sustained minor damage during the operation.

Police will allege the man stole the vehicle from a Kirwan address on March 19, and was involved in two breaches of a domestic violence order.

The 39-year-old Kirwan man has been charged with two counts of contravening a domestic violence order and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court today, March 24.
