A teenager believed to be live streaming his ride through Melbourne yesterday has been caught by Public Order Response Team members on an unregistered electric motorbike without a licence.
The bike first came to police attention on City Road in Southbank where it was spotted in heavy traffic without a registration plate about 4pm.
A short time later PORT members got out of their vehicle to speak to the rider when he rode up behind them on Clarendon Street near the Batman Park tram stop.
The rider, who failed to get off the bike after multiple requests by police, attempted to leave before members were able to grab onto the rider and bike.
The 17-year-old who was arrested until his identity could be confirmed has been interviewed in relation to failing to stop on police direction, using an unregistered motor vehicle, unlicenced, careless driving and resisting arrest.
The electric motorbike, a Stark Future Supermoto 80 believed valued around $25,000, was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $999.52.
Police also seized a helmet camera which was believed to be recording at the time and the bikes' speed control unit.
The rider from the Stonnington area is expected to be charged on summons.
