The Shire is making it easier than ever for the community to access library services, with the rollout of two new outdoor library lockers.
Funded by the State Government, the lockers will provide convenient, secure access to library materials. Residents can pick up and return library items 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The initiative is designed to complement existing branch services and better meet the needs of a growing and diverse community.
Acting Mayor Paul Pingiaro said "Library lockers are an innovative way to extend our services beyond traditional opening hours. They offer greater flexibility for people with busy schedules or those who live further from a library branch."
Installed in outdoor locations, the lockers are secure, weather-protected and easy to use, allowing community members to conveniently collect reserved items and return borrowed materials at a time that suits them.
Operating in a similar way to Australia Post parcel lockers, library staff place reserved items inside a secure locker and notify the patron when they are ready for collection. Using their library card, the patron can then access their assigned locker, ensuring a simple, reliable service giving patrons greater flexibility to enjoy library materials.
Community feedback invited
Council is inviting residents to share their feedback to help shape the future of the Library Lockers. The community survey will inform how and when the lockers are used, what materials people want to access, and where future lockers should be installed.
Acting Mayor Pingiaro said: "This is an important opportunity for our community to help guide how we expand this service. Feedback will play a key role in planning, reporting and future funding applications to the Victorian Government."
Have your say
Residents are encouraged to complete the short survey and help Council ensure library services continue to meet local needs.
