The University of New Mexico Grand Challenges has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Level 2 of the program and will host two informational sessions this month for interested researchers:
- Thursday, Feb. 12, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at the Physics and Astronomy Interdisciplinary Science building (PAIS) room 1010
- Wednesday, Feb. 18, 12 – 1 p.m. via Zoom.
The opportunity is open to interdisciplinary research teams across UNM's campuses working to solve New Mexico's most pressing problems. Grand Challenges are problems of global, national and regional significance that require researchers to work together across disciplinary boundaries to develop and implement solutions.
A cohort of approximately two to five teams with diverse disciplinary expertise will be competitively selected for the two-year program. Each team will receive up to $200,000 to promote program development and will receive facilitation, mentoring, and other program support and training provided by the Office of the Vice President for Research and other UNM units.
Participation as a Grand Challenges Level 1 team is not a prerequisite for application to the Level 2 program.
