Education is the pride of Palestinians.

It is their only asset which has so far not been taken away. Land and houses have been taken away, but not education.

Over the last few years, education has come under increasing attack for Palestine Refugees.

In Gaza, more than 600,000 children have now been out of formal schooling for over two years. They are deeply traumatized and live in the rubble. Bringing them back to a learning environment is our main priority. Failing to do so will only bring more hopelessness and extremism.

UNRWA works tirelessly to get them back onto the path of study. We now have 65,000 children in our temporary learning spaces in Gaza, almost 300,000 accessing basic literacy and numeracy lessons on digital platforms.

Whether in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, or Syria, UNRWA is an essential provider of schooling and training for Palestine Refugees. We have over 500,000 students, nearly half of them girls.

For UNRWA, every day is Education Day.

UNRWA is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. The United Nations General Assembly established UNRWA in 1949 with a mandate to provide humanitarian assistance and protection to registered Palestine refugees in the Agency's area of operations pending a just and lasting solution to their plight.

UNRWA operates in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, The Gaza Strip, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

Tens of thousands of Palestine refugees who lost their homes and livelihoods due to the 1948 conflict continue to be displaced and in need of support, nearly 75 years on.
