UNSC Briefs on Iraq Crisis Situation

Mohamed al Hassan, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), briefs on recent political, security and humanitarian developments in the country, as well as on progress in implementing Council resolution 2732 (2024), which streamlined UNAMI's mandate and decided to close the mission by 31 December.

In addition to Council members, representatives of Iraq and Kuwait will participate in the meeting under Rule 37 of the 15-member body's rules of procedure.

Such developments are highlighted in the Secretary-General's report on the implementation of resolution 2732 (2024) (document S/2025/757 ), his final report on the topic.

Recent activities regarding the repatriation and return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains and the return of Kuwaiti property are set out in the Secretary-General's forty-third report on the implementation of paragraph 4 of Security Council resolution 2107 (2013) (document S/2025/756 ), also his final report on this subject.
