UNSC Convenes Over Russian Jets in Estonian Airspace

The Security Council will meet this morning under its agenda item on "Threats to International Peace and Security", following receipt of a letter from Estonia informing the organ that, on 19 September, three Russian Federation MiG-31 fighters violated Estonian air space.

Miroslav Jenča, Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, is expected to brief. Several Foreign Ministers are also expected to address the Council today.
