The Security Council this afternoon will take up non-proliferation, holding its bi-annual briefing on the implementation of resolution 2231 (2015), which endorses the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear programme.
Briefing the 15-member organ will be Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, and Stavros Lambrinidis, head of the European Union delegation to the UN. Ms. DiCarlo is expected to brief the Council on the work of the Secretary-General's latest report on the implementation of resolution 2231 (2015) and Mr. Lambrinidis is expected to discuss the work of the JCPOA's Joint Commission.
