Upcoming Workshops For Carers

Within Knox there are over 17,000 unpaid carers who provide support for people, including those with disability. Carers have reported that the future care of their family member is their primary concern.

This series of five workshops will provide carers at similar life stages with the opportunity to learn about and build their skills in the following areas:

• identify own wellbeing when planning for your family member

• involve the person being cared for in discussions and decisions around future planning

• understand NDIS funding, build support networks and options for living options

• understand the legal and financial factors for future care arrangements

• explore the possibility of peer led ongoing support in developing individual plans

The workshops will be developed and delivered in partnership with Family Relationship Service for Carers (EACH), with guest speakers on each area of expertise.

The workshops will be held at Knox Community Arts Centre (790 Mountain Hwy Bayswater), from 11.30 - 1.30pm on the following dates :

• Thursday 24 July

• Thursday 21 August

• Thursday 11 September

• Thursday 9 October

• Thursday 13 November

While each workshop will have a stand alone topic, they are designed to build onto each other so attendance at least the first four workhops is preferred.

Group size will be capped at 20 carers.
