Update: Changed traffic conditions on Hume Motorway

As per previous communication dated 26 October 2022, work is currently being carried out until 1 March 2023 on the Hume Motorway.

The Frank Partridge Rest area, located 4km south of the Menangle Road Overbridge, was temporarily closed from 8pm to 5am from 16 November to 15 December 2022 and from 15 January to 20 January 2023, 8pm to 5am. This temporary closure will likely be reinstated between 8pm to 5am from 29 January to 15 February 2023.

The closest alternative is Pheasants Nest Rest Area, located 17km south of the Frank Partridge Rest area.

Oversize and Overmass vehicles (OSOM)

  • OSOM vehicles travelling from Sydney to Canberra that are more than 5m wide will need to temporarily park in a dedicated space on the Hume Motorway, 450m south of Menangle Road (southbound) and call Channel 21.

These vehicles will then be assisted back into the Hume Motorway to safely continue their journey. This process should take no longer than 30 minutes.

  • OSOM vehicles travelling from Canberra to Sydney that are more than 5m wide will need to temporarily park at Ampol Service Station Pheasants Nest (northbound), 17km south of Douglas Park and call Channel 21.

These vehicles will then be assisted back into the Hume Motorway to safely continue their journey. This process should take no longer than 30 minutes
