Update on Creswick Road car park works

The expected completion date of the Creswick Road off-street parking is the end of July. The contractors are back at work on the Creswick Road Car Park after a prolonged weather delay and other commitments.

Remaining works include: soft spot excavation, final base course laying and trimming, asphalt seal and line marking, boom gate installation and sign; and fencing. Additional works for the Creswick Road service road commenced earlier this month by a separable contractor.

These works include a truncation of the service road at Holmes Street and a new exit and entrance to the service road either side of Holmes Street.

This work is required as a permit condition to the car park works and is also expected to be completed by the end of July.

The cost has been managed through the process with weather delays not impacting significantly on the City of Ballarat's costs. However given the delay in the operational dates for the car park it has impacted on the City of Ballarat's income stream with respect to fees paid by those using the facility.

The project to build 140 off street car parks at Eastern Oval has been tendered and the City of Ballarat is in the process of reviewing tender responses.

With regard to the state government's promise of 1000 free car parks, Regional Development Victoria is managing this project on behalf of State Government, and while they are in communication with the City of Ballarat, the specifics of the implementation rest with them.
