Updated Public Activities Direction 30 June 2021, South Australia

Updates have been made to the Public Activities Direction in South Australia.

The Public Activities No 26 Direction came into effect at 6.16 pm on Wednesday 30 June 2021.

The following restrictions apply in South Australia. Please note that further detail can be found in the Direction. The following restrictions apply:

Gathering Provisions residential properties in the Greater Metropolitan Adelaide Area:

  • Gatherings at a residential premise in the Greater Metropolitan Adelaide Area are limited to a maximum of 10 people only.
  • Council areas included in the Greater Metropolitan Adelaide Area are:

      • City of Burnside
      • City of Campbelltown
      • City of Charles Sturt
      • Town of Gawler
      • City of Holdfast Bay
      • City of Marion
      • City of Mitcham
      • City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters
      • City of Onkaparinga
      • City of Playford
      • City of Port Adelaide Enfield
      • City of Prospect
      • City of Salisbury
      • City of Tea Tree Gully
      • City of Unley
      • Town of Walkerville
      • City of West Torrens
    • Adelaide Hills Council
    • Barossa Council
    • Fleurieu Peninsula
      • Alexandrina Council
      • District Council of Mount Barker
      • City of Victor Harbor
      • District Council of Yankalilla

Other Gathering Restrictions

The following gathering provisions still apply:

  • Private residence outside the greater metropolitan Adelaide area- Up to 150 people per house. However, people are required to have an approved COVID-19 Safe Plan between 51-150 at a residence. The 1 person per 2 sqm applies.
  • Gathering/Function at a Relevant Licenced Premises (eg wedding, funerals, party)- 1 person per 2 sqm and the capacity is defined by the space.
  • Gathering/Function at a Private Place- 150 people maximum, 1 person per 2 sqm.
  • Cinema, theatres and performance venues with fixed seating- Maximum of 75% of normal occupancy. Masks must be worn when the capacity is between 50% and 75% of the normal occupancy.

Note- Children and infants of any age are counted in the above gathering and density provisions.

Dancing

Dancing is not permitted in a nightclubs and relevant licenced premises. Despite this a bridal party is permitted to dance at a wedding ceremony or reception regardless of where it is held. Dancing is permitted at dance studios including those holding a liquor licence but there must be no service of alcohol.

Please note that restrictions under Public Activities Direction No 26 in relation to the density requirements of 1 person per 2 square metres, the consumption of food and beverages, gatherings at Relevant Licenced Premises, Gatherings at Private Places, Shisha, personal care activities and the wearing of masks in health care services still apply. The following are recommendations that apply to all of South Australia:

  • Masks- Masks are highly recommended in indoor public areas and on public transport;
  • Working from Home- It is recommended that people work from home, if possible, unless they are essential workers in the above areas; and
  • QR Codes- People must use QR codes (or manual check in system if not available) to check in when attending relevant locations.
