Upgrading Busy Intersection In Bentleigh

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is upgrading a busy intersection in Bentleigh to boost safety and improve traffic flow for road users.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne today announced the intersection of Jasper Road and Brewer Road will be improved, reducing congestion and making it safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in the area.

New traffic lights will be installed at the intersection, and Brewer Road will also be widened at the junction to provide separate right lane and left lane turns for vehicles turning onto Jasper Rd.

A new green bike lane will be installed along Brewer Road approaching the intersection, while cyclists will also benefit from green waiting boxes installed at traffic lights on both roads.

Underground sensors and traffic lights will also be implemented to make it safer for drivers exiting the Saint Paul's Catholic Church and Primary School onto Jasper Rd.

The project also includes improving the road surface and changes to on-street parking arrangements. The existing pedestrian crossing 50 meters along Jasper Road will also be removed.
