US Aid Chief Power Discusses Social Security with Spain's Saiz

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Spanish Minister for Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration Elma Saiz to discuss ongoing collaboration with the Government of Spain on expanding labor pathways that promote safe, orderly, humane, and regular migration. Administrator Power and Minister Saiz discussed progress since the May 2023 "Trilateral statement on joint commitment to Latin America" issued by the United States, Spain, and Canada, as well as USAID's efforts to enhance economic and social opportunities for the people of northern Central America. Administrator Power underscored the U.S. Government's commitment to working with Spain on addressing irregular migration flows from Latin America, as well as the U.S. commitment to supporting labor rights and ethical recruitment channels as a central component of the partnership on expanding regular temporary labor migration opportunities.
