Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Sasha Baker met with her United Kingdom counterpart, Director General for Security Policy Paul Wyatt, along with members of the U.S. Joint Staff and the UK Defence Staff leadership, March 21 at the Pentagon. The leaders discussed current regional security issues, focusing on developments in the Middle East — including humanitarian assistance efforts in Gaza — and continued efforts to support Ukraine.
Ms. Baker thanked the UK representatives for their support in the humanitarian assistance surge in Gaza. The leaders also reaffirmed their countries'mutual continuing commitment to deterring Houthi aggression and assuring safe maritime navigation in the Red Sea.
