The Department of State continues to promote accountability for those who destabilize Haiti and our region. Today, steps were taken to impose yet another round of visa restrictions on three Haitian officials: two members of the Transitional Presidential Council and a cabinet minister. Their actions have enabled Haitian gangs, some of which are designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, to destabilize the country.
This action is taken under INA 212(a)(3)(C), which generally bars individuals from entering our nation if their entry or proposed activities have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States. The Department will also revoke any currently valid visas held by these individuals and their immediate family members.
The Trump Administration will continue taking steps to impose these measures against anyone who contributes to the destabilization of Haiti and our hemisphere.
