US, Ukraine Meet on Chemical, Biological Safety & Security

The United States joined representatives from the Government of Ukraine in Krakow, Poland, to discuss further strengthening chemical and biological safety and security in Ukraine as it defends itself from continued Russian aggression. The meeting was led by Mr. Oleksii Soloviov, Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and Ms. Kathryn Insley, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation Programs at the U.S. Department of State.

The day-long meeting advanced the U.S. government's commitment to partnering with the Government of Ukraine, as both parties agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in strengthening Ukraine's ability to deter, detect and respond to chemical and biological threats. Considering the persistent threat to Ukraine's national security, strengthening the country's capabilities and furthering cooperation remains an essential cornerstone of the United States' enduring support to Ukraine. Representatives agreed to reconvene respective experts in the coming weeks to further chart the path for future strategic engagements and activities.
