On her second day in Uzbekistan, Administrator Power co-chaired the C5+1 Regional Connectivity Ministerial with officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
To enhance regional connectivity and cooperation, the C5+1 governments agreed to deepen collaboration to increase trade through the digitization of customs systems and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
During the ministerial, Administrator Power also announced an additional $14.3 million in regional programming demonstrating the deepening partnerships between the United States and Central Asian countries.
Following the Ministerial, Administrator Power held a press conference and reflected on her visit to Uzbekistan and the outcomes of the C5+1 Regional Connectivity Ministerial.
In the afternoon, Administrator Power took a tour of the Bibi-Khanum Mosque, then met with women artisans at the Samarkand Art House who have expanded the markets for their goods after receiving e-commerce training supported by USAID. These artisans now employ over 100 women to manufacture their products, advancing women empowerment and improving their families' economic security.
Administrator Power concluded her trip by visiting Registan Square, a public square that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Samarkand.
