USAID Chief Samantha Power Heads to Guatemala

From January 14-15, 2024, Administrator Samantha Power will lead the U.S. government delegation to Guatemala to attend the inauguration of President-Elect Bernardo Arévalo and Vice President-Elect Karin Herrera. The delegation will underscore the United States' support for the Arévalo administration, continued commitment to the Guatemalan people, and the strength of the bilateral relationship. Other members of the U.S. delegation will include representatives from the White House, Department of State, and Congress.

The delegation will meet with President-Elect Arévalo and discuss the U.S. commitment to making progress on shared priorities, including advancing inclusive economic growth, supporting Guatemala's democratic institutions, fighting corruption, addressing hemispheric migration, and improving livelihoods and security through the Biden-Harris Administration's Root Causes Strategy and Central America Forward initiatives.
