USAID Deputy Administrator Coleman Meets with Kazakhstan First Deputy Foreign Minister Umarov and KazAid Chairman Arystanov

On July 12, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with Kairat Umarov, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, and KazAid's Chairman, Dr. Arken Arystanov to discuss the U.S.-Kazakhstan partnership.

Deputy Administrator Coleman welcomed President Tokayev's ongoing economic and political reforms in the country, and underscored shared goals around advancing regional connectivity, bolstering Trans-Caspian trade, furthering Kazakhstan's energy transition, and strengthening sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the region. The leaders also discussed opportunities to deepen engagement with Central Asian governments, as well as the upcoming C5+1 Development Ministerial and USAID's continued support to enhance the independence, sovereignty, and prosperity of the Central Asian countries.
