USAIDs Power Meets With UNs Interim Coordinator Endres

USAID

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Interim United Nations Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) for Afghanistan Daniel Endres to discuss the humanitarian response and operational realities in Afghanistan.

Administrator Power and RC/HC Endres discussed their shared concern that hard-won gains of Afghan women and girls are rapidly deteriorating as the Taliban continues to degrade rights and diminish opportunities, further deepening Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis. While the United States continues to provide aid to the Afghan people where it is possible to do so effectively and safely, Administrator Power and RC/HC Endres discussed how they can work together to promote the full participation of women in humanitarian and development assistance and mitigate the impact of Taliban interference to ensure aid reaches the people most in need. Administrator Power also reaffirmed the United States' commitment to support the Afghan people.
