The Tasmanian Government is committed to rebuilding our economy, and ensuring that the state has the skilled workforce it needs to recover from the challenges of COVID-19.
The University of Tasmania has created a range of subsidised, online job ready certificates to support those affected by COVID-19 to re-train and upskill.
The certificates will be heavily subsidised under the Commonwealth's Higher Education Relief Package, announced in April this year. Under the Package, at least 50 per cent of the study costs are waived, with the remainder of fees eligible under the HECS-HELP scheme.
The courses will be targeted at critical areas of our workforce such as health, education, business, science and engineering as well as mental health and wellbeing.
This initiative complements the Tasmanian Government's 'SKILL UP for your future' program, which through TasTAFE supports Tasmanians to quickly upskill, reskill or gain new skills ready to enter employment.
In addition, support is already been provided through our Rapid Response program which is helping those made redundant as a result of COVID-19 to retrain.
Eligible Job Seekers are able to immediately access up to $3,000 which can be used to pay for training from any training provider, career and employment advice to help choose the best pathway available, and it can also cover the cost for work or safety gear if required.
