Vandalism of rail carriages at Ormeau

Police are investigating after train carriages were damaged at a railway line at Ormeau last night.

Around 8.30pm, police and emergency services attended the scene near Stewarts Road where a northbound train struck a number of items on the tracks at that location.

This caused damage underneath to carriages and meant the train was unable to continue.

No one was injured as a result of the incident with 56 passengers safely provided alternative transport. Some delays were experienced as a result of the incident.

Police are using all available avenues, including working with Queensland Rail and experts to determine the cause of the incident.

If anyone has any information regarding this matter they are urged to call police.

Investigations are continuing.
