Ellen B. Goldring has been elected to the board of directors of the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI). Goldring is distinguished research dean, Patricia and Rodes Hart Professor and professor of educational leadership and policy at Vanderbilt Peabody College of education and human development.
ICSEI is a global organization whose mission is to enhance "quality, equity, and excellence in education, related to educational and school effectiveness and improvement." Researchers, policy makers and practitioners from more than 80 countries are represented.
Goldring has long been known for research on school leadership and leadership development and for addressing school improvement questions in both U.S. and international contexts. Her scholarship has received funding from the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Department of Education, the William T. Grant Foundation and the Wallace Foundation.
"ICSEI is an outstanding community of scholars working together to strengthen research and policy across global contexts as we strive to improve schools," Goldring said. "It is an honor to be a member of the board and to collaborate with colleagues who are committed to global engagement in educational research."
In addition to her teaching and scholarship, Goldring's role as distinguished research dean includes oversight of the Peabody Research Office and the college's office of Global Initiatives. Peabody faculty members conduct work in dozens of international settings. Golding is a member of the National Academy of Education.
