Vehicle impounded in Lucknow

State Highway Patrol officers have intercepted a man after he was allegedly detected driving 101km/h in an 80km/h zone in Lucknow this morning.

Officers first observed the blue Ford station wagon on Lanes Road just before 10am.

The driver, a 50-year-old man, was arrested in relation to an outstanding warrant and accompanied officers back to the testing site where he provided an oral fluid sample which were allegedly positive for cannabis and methylamphetamine.

His unregistered vehicle was impounded for thirty days at a cost of $1,275.

The Eastwood man was bailed to appear before the Bairnsdale Magistrates' Court on 4 August.

He is expected to be charged on summons for driving whilst his licence was suspended, drug driving, speeding and using an unregistered vehicle.
