Vibert Reserve redevelopment opens

Stage Three redevelopment works are now complete at Vibert Reserve Pavilion and the community came together on Friday 3 February to open the doors to the impressive new facilities.

Works began in September 2021 on the estimated $4 million-dollar redevelopment, with funding received by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications for Phase 1 and 2 of Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Council funding. Community contributions were made by the Shepparton South Community Centre, Karramomus Cricket Club, Shepparton Rugby Union Club and the Shepparton Soccer Club as home users and new tenant of the facility.

The recent works involved the demolition and reconstruction of the car park and playground, relocations of irrigation water tanks and irrigation system, new car park lighting and landscaped areas and entrance. As well as the construction of the pavilion extension to be used by local Sporting Clubs, a new wing was also built for the Shepparton South Community Centre. This includes an increased social room space, store rooms, meeting rooms, office space, kitchen, bar and bathroom facilities, laundry and foyer areas and has seen the Community Centre relocate to the new premises from Service Street, Shepparton.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said Council were pleased to be able to enhance the community services provided at Vibert Reserve.

"Council understood the need to provide a sustainable facility for the Shepparton South Community and relocating the community centre to Vibert Reserve will allow greater access to the public, through public transport options and additional parking spaces. Sporting users who service visitors and residents will also greatly benefit from the added spaces," Cr Sali said.

"The redevelopment will meet the growing needs of the community and I would like to thank the Shepparton South Community Centre and our local Sporting Clubs for their support during the works, what a great start to the year for them to be able to enjoy these new great facilities."
