Victoria has confirmed its 13-player squad for Thursday's Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the MCG.
It will be Victoria's first match at the iconic stadium this season and an important final red-ball fixture before the BBL break, as the home side looks to strengthen its lead on top of the Sheffield Shield ladder.
Young trio Campbell Kellaway, Todd Murphy and Fergus O'Neill, will be unavailable for the match. Captain, Will Sutherland, will also be rested for this match, with Peter Handscomb to lead the side.
Cam McClure and Xavier Crone will return to the four-day squad after strong showings for the CA Chairman's XI in Perth.
Meanwhile, Blake MacDonald, David Moody and Doug Warren have been rewarded for excellent recent form in the Second XI, earning selection in the squad of 13.
Victorian Men's Head Coach Chris Rogers said the group is eager to put in a strong performance at home.
"Victoria against WA is always a high-quality contest. Both teams pride themselves on the way they go about it, and our group is really looking forward to the challenge," Rogers said.
"This is a big week for us – it's the last Shield match before the BBL window, and the players are hungry to finish this block well and get to the break with five wins. We took some good learnings out of last week, and the focus now is to apply them and keep building our brand of positive, exciting cricket."
Play begins at 10:30am Thursday December 4 and continues until 7 December at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The match can be seen live on Kayo Sports or the CA Live App.
