Victoria's third case of novel coronavirus confirmed

The latest case, a woman in her 40s is in a stable condition with the respiratory illness.

The woman, a visitor from Hubei Province in China, confirmed positive today after a series of tests.

The woman is in isolation in hospital in accordance with recommended infection control procedures.

Two close contacts are being provided support and are monitored closely for signs or symptoms of illness.

Advice to the public, health services and general practitioners has not changed.

Anyone who has travelled in the past 14 days to Hubei Province, including Wuhan City, or is a close contact of a confirmed case is asked to:

  • self-isolate at home and avoid public settings for 14 days after leaving Hubei Province
  • seek medical assistance if you become unwell during this time.

Doctors who are reporting a potential case should call 1300 651 160.
