A Victorian man has been charged for breaching the Public Health Order after driving from Queensland to Sydney.
Earlier this week NSW Police became aware a man had travelled from Queensland to Sydney without a reasonable excuse, and as such was in breach of the Public Health Order.
Detectives from North Shore Police Area Command attended a hotel at North Sydney on Wednesday (18 August 2021), however the man had left.
Following extensive inquiries officers attached to the Police Transport Command stopped the 29-year-old man at Hornsby Railway Station about 3pm yesterday (Thursday 19 August 2021).
The man was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for travelling, allegedly claiming he was lost.
He was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station, where he was charged with four counts of not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 - COVID-19, encourage the commission of crimes, and false representation resulting in police investigation.
Police will allege in court that the man has been involved in organising an unauthorised protest planned for this weekend.
The Victorian man was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court today (Friday 20 August 2021).
