Jackson Taylor, Member for Bayswater, has informed me that he will not be seeking re-election in 2026.
Jackson entered the Parliament in 2018, as a 26-year-old who had already demonstrated how much he wanted to make a positive difference.
He has served his community as a frontline police officer, a police prosecutor, a councillor in the City of Knox, and Deputy Mayor.
As the Member for Bayswater, he continued to show extraordinary energy and determination to deliver for the community he loves.
Jackson didn't have an easy start in life, but his upbringing has clearly shaped his deep sense of purpose.
He credits his public education for giving him the support and direction he needed to set off on the right path.
And in his very first speech to our Parliament, he promised to improve the lives of young people - especially through investment in education.
He should be rightly proud that he has delivered upgrades to every public school in his electorate.
Jackson promised to roll up his sleeves and work hard every day for his community.
And that's exactly what he's done.
Jackson has delivered major upgrades to the Boronia Station and surrounding precinct that will make the area feel safer, and more connected.
He is delivering upgrades to the William Angliss Hospital, and has been a champion for mental health and family violence services.
He has fought for safer roads, and backed local sporting clubs.
And he has made a real difference to families and working people in Bayswater.
I want to thank him for his outstanding contribution to our Parliament, and to his community.
And I wish him, his wife Tash and his son George the very best for the future.
