Victorian Women Poised to Lead Property's Future

The program celebrates its 11th anniversary at today's Melbourne launch, having supported more than 6,000 women nationally since its inception in 2016.

Created to help address the historic underrepresentation of women in the property sector, 500 Women in Property connects participants with senior industry leaders through a one-on-one sponsorship program while also providing access to networking events, leadership masterclasses and professional development opportunities designed to help women build their confidence, visibility and careers.

1.4 million Australians are employed in the property sector, with women making up around 25 per cent of that workforce, highlighting the importance of initiatives like 500 Women in Property.

Property Council Victorian Executive Director Cath Evans said 500 Women in Property continues to play an important role in building a stronger, more diverse property industry.

"The property industry offers rewarding careers for people from all backgrounds, and we're seeing more talented women stepping into leadership roles across every part of the sector," Ms Evans said.

"For more than a decade, 500 Women in Property has helped thousands of women grow their careers by building networks, developing leadership skills and creating opportunities to connect with peers and mentors."

"Programs like this don't just benefit the women who take part-they strengthen the entire industry by helping attract, develop and retain the talent we'll need to deliver the homes, workplaces and infrastructure our communities rely on."

"As Victoria continues to grow, investing in diverse leadership and supporting the next generation of industry professionals will be critical to meeting the challenges and opportunities ahead."

Property Council Diversity and Inclusion Director Nicole Battley said the continued success of 500 Women in Property reflects the industry's commitment to developing the next generation of female leaders.

"The property industry is stronger when women have the opportunity to grow their careers, expand their networks and step into leadership roles," Ms Battley said.

"500 Women in Property is about creating those opportunities – connecting talented women with mentors, peers and industry leaders who can help open doors and accelerate their careers."

"Every year we see the impact this program has, not only on the women who participate, but on the broader industry as we continue to build a more diverse, inclusive and resilient property sector."
