Vietnam-born Man Convicted Of Visa Breaches In WA

A Vietnam-born man has been sentenced in Perth Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to 18 offences related to failing to comply with his visa-mandated monitoring conditions.

The man, 35, was sentenced on 4 July, 2025, to 12 months' imprisonment, backdated 66 days to reflect the time already spent in custody, and was released on a recognisance order.

The AFP charged the man on 28 March, 2025, with 10 counts of failing to comply with a requirement of his monitoring conditions, contrary to section 76B of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). A further eight counts of failing to report as required, contrary to section 76B of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth), were laid on 5 May, 2025.
